Nick Ferreira; Skater Island; Middletown, R.I.; 2001?
There was this local at the Island that everyone called Kid Rock. You could write a book about this dude and not even scratch the surface, but I'll say this: He had a cobra tattooed on the side of his shaved head. Anyway, I was riding with him one night and somebody did a peg grind in the bowl. He turned to me and said, pegs hit the coping, like swords claashing.
That's pretty much what's going on here. Holeshot prez slashing the jersey barrier at the late Skater Island skatepark. So good.

Dirt Jumps

There is a chance you missed this blog entry/article over on ESPN. I love places like this. Check it here. Fuck it, bookmark that shit. Hopefully I'll have a lot of stuff on there.

Gonna be in Los Angeles on Saturday? Come rip some bunnyhops, ride some ledges and maybe do some booty shaking?

art history lesson : TRIPtych

Triptych: A painting or carving that has three side-by-side parts, panels, or canvases. Typically, a triptych has three hinged panels, the two outer panels designed so that they can be folded in towards the central one.
the above is TRIPtych of this mid trail session scene starring Nasty Nate multi tasking between runs.
yes that IS a star. Yes he pulled it. and Yes after he was also able to make a confederate flag (to be more politically correct we'll call it the flag of Jamaica, given their shared design.)

Breathe.

In 2004 I was supposed to move to California. I was tagging along with my travel bud/ skiing phenomenon Ian Stillman. When we got to Lake Tahoe we opted out. Not sure why. Ian said it reminded him of Wareham, MA when there was no snow. We drove around for a month in his Nissan Altima then I went back to Taunton and didn't do much until January, 3 months later. College was on hold for a bit and I think I just worked part time. I drove around in my Chevy Caprice Wagon listening to Jamn' 94.5 going from spot to spot with Jigga Matt, which meant I listened to the song below a lot. It was actually awesome and I even learned new tricks, namely one footed tiregrabs. If you are a loyal Holeshot reader, you might remember Matt's infamous video reviews. He's the best. Jiggaman, THAT'S WASSSSUP!

#6 is Happening & Doug Graham

Issue 6 is coming. I wouldn't leave you hanging. Where Holeshot goes after that, who knows? GET SOME.

I found this photo of my friend Doug on his all chrome Holmes from probably 4 years ago now. When I was a wide eyed BMX rat, Doug Graham was a legend. From the baby blue STA to icepicking across those shitty aluminum ledges in the rain at SPOB, Doug was the coolest. Even more intriguing was his brush with the International Society for Krishna Consciousness. I'm not really sure what Doug is up to now but some of my sources say he is living in Brooklyn. Hi Doug.
